About what is the morning traffic like in Indianapolis

What is the morning traffic like in Indianapolis?
This thanksgiving I am traveling from Dayton OH to Milwaukee WI. I am leaving dayton between 5-6 and should hit indianapolis around around. What will the traffic be like on a wednesday morning? I need to catch a train in chicago and need to make sure I account for proper traffic patters when heading from the west to the east. Also is is best to go thought downtown or take the bypass?

I wouldn't worry about the traffic in Indy at all. You'll blow thru here hardly slowing down. If I were you, I would take 70 west thru downtown Indy to 65 north. 465 on the Northeast side of town can get slow sometimes.

About what is the best way for my cat to travel with me on plane

What is the best way for my cat to travel with me on plane?
I'm currently planning to go to Seattle (from Indianapolis) during Summer this year. I have a 7month old cat, and I'm hoping to bring him with me rather than leaving it to the cares of others. I'm wondering if anybody can share with me about cat traveling? In terms of cost and the process? Thanks!

you can buy an airline approved carrier for dogs/cats and it will fit under the seat in front of you, just make sure that your airline allows pets
3 :
You'll want to get an airline approved pet carrier. She can either ride under your seat or in the cargo section of the plane, depending on how long your flight is you'll want to have food and water in her cage as well as a blanket or some kind of absorbent pad in case she has an accident. Most cat are fine in a carrier for 7-8 hours without having to use the litter. Price depends on the airline and where you kitty is going to ride. Have fun!
4 :
Get a Airline approved Carrier NOW and let your cat play in it and enjoy it. go on short trips to like pet smart with your kitty in the tote (they sit under the seat in front of you) you can pet them through the "window" If your cat is good and will sit still this should be enough if you find over the next few weeks that it will not sit quietly in the tote then talk to your vet, there are "traveler helpers" that they can take.
5 :
well i looked into buying a puppy online and having it shipped to me....so i wanted to know what happens and this is what i found for puppies (i imagin that its not much different with cats)..... the crates and ticket cost between 200-300$.... they board the plane last and come off first.... they travel in a special part of the plan some are airconditioned if its hot out and i believe that they are heated too..... if your traveling with your cat you may be able to take him on as carry on depending how big he is and if you can get a cage that fits under your seat.... good luck
6 :
I feel safer taking kitty on as "carry-on luggage" with me, rather than sending it to cargo. Just checked with United. It's $85 to take kitty in the plane with you. (he will have to be in a carrier of appropriate size and will count as your carry-on luggage) It may actually be MORE expensive to put it in cargo, if I read things right. Anyway.. that's united. Other airlines will probably have similar fees. You will definitely want to arrange this ahead of time. I wouldn't wait till the last minute. The $85, I believe, buys kitty his own "ticket." Kitty's carrier will have to be carry-on regulation size. Then fluffy can fit under the seat in front of you. During the main part of the flight, you can take the carrier out and talk to kitty. Don't know for sure what their rules are for taking hiim OUT of the carrier during flight and holding him. But I'm sure they wouldn't have a problem with you holding the carrier on your lap, opening the front door and putting your hand in to comfort him. I have flown with cats before, and they meow, but do fine. I would call the airline or travel agent, tell them what you want, and see what pre-arrangements need to be made. You can always get "kitty valium" from your vet if you think kitty will need it. I always advise people traveling with cats (car or whatever) to travel with a couple trashbags, paper towels, and baby wipes. That way you can clean the carrier easily if kitty has an accident. In the plane you could take the carrier to the bathroom to do this.
7 :
Depending on how long you are gone for, cats can be left along for up to a week with no problem, just leave lots of bowls of dry food and water and an extra litter box (or get one that is self cleaning and has an extended away feature). If you are uncomfortable leaving you cat alone, Best friends kennel is fantastic. I take my animals there when I leave town. Depending on how long you are gone for it may be less expensive then buying an second plane ticket. If you wanted to take him with you, then the best way is to buy a seat for him on the plane and take him on with you in carrier (soft or hard your preference depending on there behavior). Hope this helps!!
8 :
I don't know /much/ about this because my cats are not much for travel...One of them cries constantly the other will squirm around until it finds some way of escaping.... But, I just went to Florida for a week and I saw a lady who had her dog in a underseat luggage thing. Having your cat with you is probably much safer then having them in the luggage compartment of the plane. But it also costs much, the lady that I talked with said it cost her as much as herself.
9 :
Ask for storage space on the top of the airplane... outside storage is much cheaper.
10 :
Call the airline you plan to fly with and let them know your plans. Some will allow as carry on that is the best. If you plan to use SouthWest Airline they never allow pets in cabin or in cargo. You'll need a soft Sherpa type bag and make sure and get DryFur cushions since this is such a long flight she may very well have accident in the soft carrier and she will be miserable and you will be very embarrassed dripping in the plane. NOT PUPPY PADS they do not dry and they always get bunched in the corner when cat starts to move about. http://www.dryfur.com or http://www.pettravelstore.com

Bus will be the cheapest, or look on Craigslist for a ride. The Amtrak site is often hard to use, so click on "Contact us" at the top and get the phone numbe to call them to ask about a route and prices.

About how can I avoid downtown Chicago when traveling from Milwaukee to Indianapolis

How can I avoid downtown Chicago when traveling from Milwaukee to Indianapolis?
I'm leaving from Milwaukee, WI and going to Indianapolis, IN. Is there any way to bypass or go around downtown Chicago as to avoid traffic! I appreciate your help!

Your best bet is to try to take the 294 which goes around the outskirts of the city and take it until the 80. Take the 80 east towards the 65 and take that south until Indianapolis.
2 :
Take I-294. It goes around the city. Taking I-80 is the best way across the south end of the Lake, but beware. The traffic on I-80 is horrendous. Although you are not going through downtown, you are using a thoroughfare that is just as busy. This main highway is one of the major thoroughfares to the suburbs from the city. I am not sure if the below link works but it is from Googlemaps. The detour wil add 15-30 minutes on to your trip.
3 :
I would suggest I294 going South
4 :
fly to California instead!

Indianapolis,Indiana-is a great city.Sorta.There is plenty of interesting things to do especially is you have children. The Speedway is the best! The Naptown Riders are there! That would be fun to check out:)~But there is also the rundown part of town that isn't so pretty.
2 :
indianapolis is a wonderful city with many places to go. like the speedway, consico feild house, and the rca dome. but you should take a map with you. it's easy to get lost very quickly. Night time is the best time to see downtown.
3 :
Indianapolis is trying to reinvent itself as a sophisticated business-center. They have recently opened a 5-star Conrad hotel, they have theater and fine dining. There is also a world class children's museum. However, if redneck pursuits appeal to you, there are plenty of those, too: The Indy 500 and Brickyard 400 bring hicks from all corners of the globe. As for beautiful, yes, take a leisurely drive up Meridian St. and look at all the gorgeous homes. When you get to 86th, turn left and drive a while until you get to Zionsville Rd. Turn right there and head into the quaint little village of Zionsville with charming shops and underrated restaurants.
4 :
I think if you like art or opera music Indy the place for you . other wise its just boring the motor speedway the best

About What are some good travel foods to bring on a long trip away from home

What are some good travel foods to bring on a long trip away from home?
I am traveling from Tennessee to Indianapolis, about a six hour trip. It is a business trip which I will be there for 5 days. I need quick easy food tips for the trip and while I am there at the hotel. I don't want to go out every day for each meal so I need to go to the grocery and purchase food that is good and healthy for the trip. Any ideas?

Trail Mix is always a good one, filled with peanuts, pretzels, and M&Ms! It's better than eating at every McDonald's in sight.
2 :
Granola bars,bananas,raisins,soups in travel containers,etc.
3 :
beef jerky, small, good and fills you up!
4 :
i like to snack on dry cereal like honey nut cherrios
5 :
I would pack some sandwich meat in a cooler and some fixins and bread along with bottled water. Some instant soup might work if your hotel has a microwave. Fruit works too.
6 :
trail mix, nuts, yogurt, cereal, Nabisco 100 calorie packs, mini carrots, sandwich stuff, chex mix, fruit, energy bars, bring your own case of water, diet soda, cans of soup....
7 :
Probably can use coffee maker at hotel for hot water, so bring instant oatmeal, soup cups, hot chocolate...... Luna Bars, Pringles, Bananas, Oranges, Almonds etc.... Can bring packages of cinnamon rolls or cinnamon/raisin bread for breakfasts.
8 :
Do you plan to carry ALL the food you're going to be eating for 5 days? Or just food to sustain you on the road? For the actual road trip, you'll want things that are fairly healthy, and easily preserved. If you're doing the actual driving, carrot and celery sticks (and other crunchy vegetables) are best. They're nutritious, and they have the added benefit of being "noisy" when you eat them. That'll help keep you alert while you drive. BTW, stay away from excessive coffee/caffeine while on a road trip. It can upset your stomach on a long trip, and you don't want to experience the caffeine "crash". Plus, more coffee equals more "pit stops". Use a picnic-style travel cooler, and fill it with raw veggies, fresh fruit, trail mix, containers of yogurt, etc. Whatever you like. (And don't forget some of those blue frozen things to keep everything cool). Unless you have dietary restrictions, don't worry about packing drinks into the cooler...no matter where you are, you can always find bottled water.
9 :
What about trail-mix...journey food! Apples are always good, plus if you lack the time to brush your teeth, just eat an apple. Furthermore, it allows you to be mobile and permit nourishment. nuts, for journeys are good. Pistachio's or sunflower seeds, almonds too! Fruit salad cups! Of course for desert --- some cakes. Few suggestions...I think for the trip at least, nuts and trail-mix will appease your hunger. For the hotel, since you should have access to a fridge, get lots of fruit (clementines, apples....) get you started right. Some jam and some fancy bakery bread, or milk and some cereal... Cheers, Jason S. Have a nice trip!

Where can i get cheap round tickets from Indianapolis to Houston?
I want to travel for christmas from Indianapolis, In. on December 27, 2008 to Houston, Texas but i want a round trip to return on January 3, 2009 to Indianapolis. id like to keep it under $600. I appreciate any help!

Reach your hand deep inside your anal cavity and you should find two tickets stashed inside.
2 :
u get it online Answer mine? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/?qid=20081130161414AA714Y0&cp=2
3 :
I've found Expedia to be good at finding fairly cheap tickets.
4 :
If you want to fly direct, you only have 1 choice: Continental Airlines. The lowest return fare available on that day and time is US$382.50 (INCLUDING taxes and fees) . Details are in this page where you can immediately book your flight from: https://www.continental.com/web/en-US/apps/booking/flight/reviewRevenue.aspx?SID=823E7C6B15EC4270A6663BE5244415A2&sg=1&sgk=20641/3/2009 According to www.wego.com , even if you take a flight with stopovers, the price will still be higher than the direct flight, and still more inconvenient (especially this airline flying the 1 stop route is an airline like US Airways!), thus the above fare and airline is your best bet. But as soon as you read this, book your flight as soon as possible as I'm afraid it'll snap up. If you cannot open the link above, it means that the flight probably has snapped up, so go to the Continental Airlines website www.continental.com and book your flight, hopefully that discount is still available under your $600 budget.

that'd be by foot.
2 :
Bus from Cincinnati? Greyhound is about $25 for an adult one-way, plus cab to the airport. Amtrak doesn't run on the 4th.
3 :
I would recommend a car with good gas mileage. Just take 75N to 74W. It will take about 1hr 45min, but at that time it might take even less. I lived in Alexandria a few years ago and made this trip many-a-time... its, honestly, the most cost-effective. If you don't have a car with good gas mileage, I would recommend going through a rental agency for one... most of the times its $9.99 on the weekends (and you can sometimes find good deals if you search online). Hope she has a safe journey!

About Indianapolis to St. Louis bus travel

Indianapolis to St. Louis bus travel?
I need to travel from Indianapolis (or Bloomington, In.) to St.Louis (family of 3). Used to be a quick and cheap flight - no more! Greyhound Bus from Indy is cheap, but is it OK in terms of personal safety and comfort? We would be going in the afternoon, not at night.

Just be extra careful at the Downtown St. Louis station. Have someone meet you (and not be late) or grab a cab as soon as you have all of your luggage. Have a great trip!
2 :
Comfort, not necessarily. Safety is probably okay. You probably already know to watch your things in ANY large city bus station, and don't accept help carrying it from anyone you don't know. It is a ploy to run with your valuables.

You could try Megabus - you would likely have to make some changes because New York and Indiana are not in the same service area - If you were to do New York to Pittsburgh and then Pittsburgh to Columbus and Columbus to Indianapolis maybe it would work.

You really are better off driving or flying. A bus would cost at least $90.00 one way and would take at least 13 hours. You would probably have to transfer at least twice. GREYHOUND A train would cost about $150 each way and would take at least 17 hours with at least 3 transfers. AMTRAK DRIVE!
