Things to do between Indianapolis and Raleigh?
I will be traveling with my boyfriend to Raleigh north Carolina on Friday. We will be taking the route from Indianapolis through west Virginia down to Raleigh.. Are there any really cool restaurants or cool things to do on the way? Thanks :) Other - United States - 2 Answers

Ugh!! That drive sucks.......Im guessing your going 65 to 24 to 64 ,blah, blah, lol......I just did that 2 years ago.......There is nothing cool, at least until you get to Winston-Salem, and Greensboro, NC....You will pass right through the both of them on I-40....Lots of bars,and restaurants, but not much to see sightwise, its a very, very boring ride.......

I don't know if it would qualify as "cool," but Tamarack in WV is an interesting place to shop and eat.

About traveling from indianapolis to paonia colorado

traveling from indianapolis to paonia colorado.?
I am planning to travel from indianapolis to paonia colorado 81428 in april. I would like to fly to either denver airport, or other regional air ports and either go by public transport, or car pool and go to paonia. can some one help me what is the best air port to get in to -- denver international,montrose regional air port, walker field air port in grand junction, aspen - pitkin country airport-- which is the best air port to get to to use the public transport to get to a place called solar energy instiute in paonia. which air ports have either a gray hound bus or some thing like that to get to the paonia. any further information you can provide will be extremly helpful thanks. There isn't any public transportation to Paonia. I imagine that flying into Grand Junction would be much less expensive than flying into Aspen. You might also consider flying into Montrose. Your best bet would be to rent a car in either Denver, Grand Junction or Montrose.

I suggest you call SEI and ask them those questions. They probably get them all the time.

best to flight in to Denver since most regional airport are only seasonal. The Denver Airport has greyhound station inside of it and you can get a ticket to the rest of your destination there.

Cheapest way - Walking Most cost efficient way - Probably a train.

rent a car(small one for around 40-50 bucks a day and the tank is full)

Rent a car. Buy your tickets in advance so the price will be cheaper.

If you are bringing the pups, probably a rental car is your best bet. There are some great discounts and deals out there these days so i would probably start with looking into a car to rent.

You have two small dogs, thus that limits your options. You can not take animals on Amtrak, thus the train is out. You generally have to return a rental car to where you rented it from. Thus, that increases the cost of a rental car. You are allowed to fly with pets. There is an extra fee. How about another option. In undergrad, I had a friend who would rent a U-Haul to take her to college at the start of the semester. She would load up her cat, a bag full of clothes, and her laptop. She did not have much in the way of property, but she would be able to get a small truck to drive to college and she would drop it off in the U-Haul lot not too far from her school. If you play your cards right, you will only pay $30 plus gas. OK, it's not glamorous but it's cheap! I hope that it helps. Good luck!

I am looking for public transport from upstate NY to indianapolis Indiana?
I am going to the Gencon this year and I am looking for a cheap way to travel. Does anyone know of a public bus or train service that still does stuff like that, or will I have to choose between driving and flying over there? Other - Cars & Transportation - 1 Answers

Try Greyhound for bus transportation or Amtrak for train or combined bus + train. It will be a long trip either way. The train would probably go by way of Chicago. By the way, "upstate New York" covers a lot of territory. I know there are stations in Albany, but I don't know where there are stations in the western part of the state.

About what should I do in Indianapolis

What should I do in Indianapolis?
A good friend of mine and I are travelling to indianapolis on July 22nd and 23rd. (It's the closest city within driving distance that we haven't already explored.) What local attractions would you recommend? What local food would you recommend? We are looking for non-chain resturants and hopefully attractions that are city specific - I.E. not something like a six flags or what not that we could get anywhere. All help is appreciated! Oh gosh there is lots of stuff to do. The Canal walk is pretty neat. Fountain Square is also a neat area, there is an old Woolworth's soda fountain and a duck pin bowling alley which is pretty vintage 1950s. Eagle Creek park is one of the largest city parks in the country, its really pretty. Broad Ripple is also a cute area with fun clubs and neat little stores. Massachusetts Avenue is also sort of fun, again cute little shops and some good local restaurants. Some Guys pizza is about the best pizza in the world. The Rathskellar Restaurant is neat, it is mostly German food but there is other stuff too and a beer garden with bands on the weekends, its also a historical building. Its down around Massachusetts Avenue. Anyway check out www.indy.org Oh yeah, I wanted to add something else. I know it may seem creepy but it is really, really beautiful, but Crown Hill cemetery is a neat place to tour. There are lots of historical people buried there, including Dillinger, Benjamin Harrison, and James Whitcomb Riley. It also has the highest point in Indianapolis and its a gorgeous view of the sunset.

The Broad Ripple area north of downtown is a cool place to hang around. There are several independent and excellent ethnic restaurants from a variety of cultures, several with outdoor seating, a funky vintage clothing store, and a cultured laid back atmosphere. I pass through Indianapolis from Chicago about every three months or so, and this is my favorite neighborhood. Also, when downtown you might visit a Native American museum called the Eiteljorg (sp?) which is really worth seeing.
